Are you a woman returning to school?
Could you use some financial assistance? The Board for Women's Ministries is pleased to announce that this year three scholarships of up to $1200. will be awarded to “nontraditional” female students. Priority will be given to First-Plymouth members for one of these. We want to be part of helping a member of our church to reach her career coals. The other will go to someone in the community at large. Click here for an application. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Email Nancy and let her know of your intent to apply. Contact Rev. Nancy with questions.
The Board for Women’s Ministries
The purpose of the Board for Women’s Ministries is to provide the women of First-Plymouth Church opportunities to develop relationships with one another, and opportunities for spiritual growth and support; to educate about and to advocate for (when appropriate), the needs of women, children, and families; and to provide support and service to individuals and organizations which advance opportunities for women and/or serve women with needs. The Board also works with and supports, along with other boards and communities, the ongoing projects and programs of First-Plymouth Church.
The Board for Women’s Ministries sponsors retreats throughout the year. Retreats are a good opportunity for women of the church and their friends to get together for spiritual enrichment, relax, and reconnect. Retreats typically take place in the fall and spring and vary from a one-day in-town retreat to an overnight out-of-town retreat.
Committees within the Board for Women’s Ministries plan events and financial support throughout the year to benefit programs geared towards serving women and children.
The Scholarship Committee will designate funds available to the Board. Each year around January the Board will publicize information detailing that year’s scholarship available for non-traditional students.
Loaves and Fishes
the Loaves and Fishes project pairs volunteers who will prepare meals to be frozen and delivered to individuals or families in need of a prepared meal due to illness, birth of a new child, death in the family, or other household crisis.
Advocacy and Education
Members of this committee work to inform the Board and the church of current legislative and/or legal issues effecting women, children, and families. The Board may then decide to take action such as writing letters, organizing publicity, etc.
Fellowship and Celebration of Women
These are opportunities throughout the year for women to get together in a relaxing, supportive, social environment. Events throughout the year include the Salad Supper, Soup Supper, and Notable Women.
