The Evolution of God

Can the Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—coexist peacefully with one another? The fate of the world may depend on that question, and Robert Wright says the answer is yes. Drawing on the histories and scriptures of these religions, he reveals the key to bringing out the best in them and shows that all three are capable of evolving to meet the great challenge of our time: knitting the world’s peoples into a cohesive global society. He shows how and why the Abrahamic God has grown morally over time and offers hope that more growth lies ahead.

Robert Wright is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Evolution of God, a finalist for the 2010 General Nonfiction Pulitzer Prize. His previous books include The Moral Animal: Evolutionary Psychology and Everyday Life (named by the New York Times Book Review as one of the best 10 books of the year) and Nonzero: The Logic of Human Destiny (which President Bill Clinton required White House staff members to read). Wright is a recipient of the National Magazine Award for Essay and Criticism and has been a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. He has taught philosophy at Princeton and religion at Penn and is now a senior fellow at the New America Foundation and editor in chief of Bloggingheads.tv, which he co-founded. He has written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, many other periodicals and is a New York Times Opinionator.
