Timeless Wisdom
“In chaotic, difficult times we must strive for wisdom. First-Plymouth Church is going to gather around 12 key scriptures this fall in a quest for a deeper vision. These 12 scriptures move us beyond the immediate into the ‘big picture,” said Senior Minister Jim Keck.
Beginning September 6, First-Plymouth will focus each online worship service around one of 12 scriptures that call on us to deepen our love of God and neighbor. The series will run through November 22, with discussion opportunities to connect us to these key scriptures and each other.
The 12 essential scriptures, selected by First-Plymouth ministers, will be sent to members in a booklet prior to the September 6 start of the series, and will also be sent via congregational emails.
“We will explore what makes these 12 scriptures particularly important and relevant, especially now, both in worship services and online discussion opportunities,” said Keck.
September 6, in both 9:00am First Worship and 10:30am livestream worship, the message will focus on John 4: 7-12, which begins, “Beloved, let us love one another.”
“These 12 scriptures move us beyond the immediate and can bring us so much peace and resolve, especially during this challenging time,” said Keck. “We want everyone to take these deeply to heart as a compass for living productively and joyfully.”
Discussion opportunities include:
A live Facebook Community Page chat immediately following the 9:00am First Worship
“Gathering Around the 12 Essential Scriptures with Dr. Jim Keck” every Thursday noon on Zoom
Live “Coffee Chat” on Zoom, immediately following 10:30am Sunday worship, the second Sunday of each month, Sept 13, Oct 11, Nov 8, with Jim Keck, Patrick Messer and Tom Trenney.
“The first of the scriptures concludes: ‘…if we love one another, God lives in us…’.
This fall we will take time to learn to do that more deeply,” said Keck.
