We The People

Presented by Bob Bartle

Sunday, July 2, 11:30am-Noon, Mayflower Hall

On July 4, 1776, in the second part of a seven-year war against Britain, thirteen united colonies declared themselves independent. Thirteen years later, on March 4, 1789, after the ratification of the Constitution, thirteen United States began to govern themselves as a nation with the Preamble promise: “We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union . . .” Through constitutional amendment, federal legislation, and by way of immigration and even a civil war, we the people now include both men and women, black and white, native and immigrant. Join Bob Bartle, for this fascinating program as you enjoy some apple pie and coffee!
